How to get a pet

You'll get your first at lvl 10 after reaching Freedom Harbor and following the main quest introducing you to the town. Eventually you'll get to the NPC "Rachel" who will let you choose your first pet. You can choose between a wolf, turtle or ram.

Now you'll have to hatch it. Notice the longer you hatch your future pet, the better it may be in the end.

How to get more pets

When you reach level 30 you can learn a special skill by following the main quest which allows you to catch new pets. Furthermore you can learn the "Tamer" job at level 35, which allows you to catch an even wider range of pets and level them faster. People who don't have any of this skills will simply see "Requires special skills to capture" and you won't be able to tame and catch it.

A Pet's duty

The main task of a pet is to assist its master in battle. With getting a pet you'll also gain the skills to control it. You can "Recall" or send it to "Attack". It's also possible to set its general behaviour in combat. You can switch it between "Attack", "Defend" and "Idle".

Pets also have a Mood System which grants the pet various bonuses and which change based on your interaction with it.

Feed it!

Like in the real life you have to keep your pet fed. His gorge decreases over time. To increase it again you'll have to feed it its specific food. A wolf only eats meat and won't touch apples. The meat you need for your wolf can be farmed for example by killing wild animals (e.g: bears drop "Bear Meat") or it can be bought from the local Pet Dealer.

If the food meter hits "0" then he is automatically returned and can't be used until it is taken care of.
